About ACV

Incorporated in 1997, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) supports and promotes the culture of Virginia artisans through education, entrepreneurship, research, galleries and exhibitions.

The Center believes that quality, handmade craft strengthens the cultural, educational and economic viability of local communities.

The Artisans Center is a private nonprofit 501(c)(3) visual arts organization and is led by a professional staff and a volunteer board of trustees. In 1999, the Center was named the state’s official center for fine craft by the Virginia General Assembly. ACV opened a retail and exhibition gallery in June of 2000. ACV's operating income is derived from retail sales, corporate and private sponsorship, membership, government and foundation grants.

The work that you see in the gallery has been selected through a jury process and represents some of the finest traditional and contemporary craft being made today. Currently we represent over 200 professional artisans from all over Virginia. We present 5 to 7 statewide or national exhibits per year, 8 to 10 featured artisan exhibits, and a year-round schedule of classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels.

The gallery is designed to serve the interests of the people and artisans of Virginia. This is your State Craft Center. We welcome your participation in the development of the Center and its programs. We hope you will visit often and let us know how to best serve your needs.
