How to Plan for the ACV Conference
& Craft Fair
We want you to be excited about what we’ve planned for you so here’s a brief description of the weekend along with a few suggestions and an outline of the agenda printed below:
We HIGHLY recommend you arrive Thursday night or early on Friday to take part in the ** optional** pre-conference lunch and tour of the Taubman Museum of Art Roanoke. This activity promises to be an inspiring day as we visit this extraordinary musuem get to know each other. Intended as a festive outing to get you in the mood for what’s yet to come, we will begin the tour with lunch at the at the museum. We hope you will plan to join us for this fun pre-conference tour!
On-site registration will begin at 4pm at Hotel Roanoke.
The conference program officially begins at 6:30 pm on Friday evening with a very special Meet-n-Greet Reception, where you can visit with friends and meet our guest speakers upclose and personal.
On Saturday, the program begins early for those of you who want to participate in an early morning stretch....don’t forget to bring your comfy workout clothes! (not only for this...but did you know the hotel has a fantastic work out facility!). A special Continental food bar will be ready when you arrive in conference foyer including: freshly brewed coffee, flavored teas, fruit juices, soft drinks and bottled water, a specialty hot item, fres fruit, assorted breads and pastries and assorted granola bars.
The morning keynote will begin promptly at 9:00 am followed by a full day of exciting workshops and opportunities for you to share ideas with your peers.
The Silent Auction will be up and running all day. This year’s silent auction is something that you, as artisans, may not expect.....first of all....we’re not asking artisans to donate anything....isn’t that a switch! Rather, we’ve been gathering items from a wide range of very enthusiastic and diverse supporters who offer things you will simply drool over! The proceeds of our silent auction go toward helping us keep our conference registration fees as low as possible.
The hotel offers a convenient "on-your-own" buffet lunch....of course eating at the hotel for lunch on Saturday is optional, but we think you will agree that prices are consideration of how far it is to trek anywhere else amidst our busy program and how fun it will be to have lunch conveniently located where you can convene informally with friends!
A quick break for dinner and the party begins as we present the ACV Awards for Excellence. We’ve hired a not band....will have a cash bar set up and lots of fun interruptions to keep us all laughing and having fun as we continue to get to know each other through play and the sharing of ideas!
Some of you may choose to check out on Sunday.....we hope not! Because Sunday hosts the ACV Craft Fair! We are very excited to begin this portion of the event for as you know helping artisans promote and sell their crafts is a huge part of our mission! This event is sponsored in part by the Roanoke Visitor and Convention Bureau and will be advertised far and wide to attract new patrons to your work! We hope you are planning to set up your booth for this one day craft explosion in Roanoke!
