Cheryl Hartley
General Manager of Tamarack:
The Best of West Virginia

 

Cheryl Hartley is the general manager of Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, where she spearheads the largest economic development project of the West Virginia Parkways Authority. She has more than 25 years of experience in non-profit administration and development, retail management, public service, tourism, and hospitality.  Her passionate advocacy for economic development through the arts began with her work as Director of Artist Services for the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts (SWAIA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She later served on SWAIA’s board of directors and co-chaired the Santa Fe Indian Market Standards Committee.

 

Cheryl Hartley currently serves as board chair for the Craft Organization Development Association (CODA) and is an annual facilitator at CODA’s national craft leadership conference. She has a strong interest in building creative communities within West Virginia and works toward that goal with her participation in West Virginia: A Vision Shared.  She helped launch the Tamarack Foundation, which provides programs that benefit West Virginia artisans and was a founding member of the West Virginia Industry of Culture Consortium.  Cheryl also has enjoyed working regionally with the Craft Advisory Council of the HandMade Institute for Creative Economies in Asheville, North Carolina.

 

Cheryl Hartley has been with Tamarack for eight years and holds a BA in anthropology from Temple University.
