Since 1996, Virginia Artisans have exhibited work and offered craft demonstrations at the State Fair of Virginia in Richmond. During the eleven days of the Fair, thousands of fairgoers are offered a show of fine craft made in Virginia and live craft demonstrations by Virginia artisans.

This year the Fair makes its long awaited move to the brand new “Meadow Event Park” just north of Richmond off Interstate 95.

As is stated on their web site (http://www.statefair.com/), “it's the best of Virginia! See Virginia’s finest animals and agriculture, exhibits and shows, toe-tappin' music, fine arts and crafts, blue ribbon competitions and more! Plan now to be a part of one of Virginia's greatest annual traditions since 1854.”

This event is a special opportunity for participating artisan members. On weekdays, busloads of school children tour the Fair. The Fair distributes a booklet to schools throughout the state, listing ACV craft demonstrations and other educational Fair events. Interaction with artisan demonstrators allows these young visitors to discover the excitement of crafts and to consider alternative career possibilities.

For ACV, the State Fair effort serves our educational commitment to the public. We also serve our shared commitment to handwork and to each other in this statewide organization. Several years of effort by many dedicated volunteer members have made Artisans at The State Fair an event to be proud of.

Directions to the Virginia State Fair Grounds

From I-64 west:

Take exit 177 to merge onto I-295 N toward Washington/Norfolk  8.8 mi Take exit 43D-C-B-A for US-1/I-95 toward Richmond/Washington  0.2 mi Keep left at the fork, follow signs for I-95 and merge onto I-95 N  14.2 mi Take exit 98 for VA-30  0.2 mi Keep right at the fork, follow signs for W Point and merge onto Kings Dominion Blvd/VA-30 Continue to follow VA-30 becomes Dawn Blvd. 1.6 mi The Fairgrounds is on both sides of the road. Our location is on the left or north side of Dawn Blvd.

From I-64 east:

Take I-295 to I-95N.

Follow directions above.

From North and South:

Take I-95 to Exit 98 – VA-30 Kings Dominion

Follow directions above.

Driving Directions for ACV Volunteers and Deliveries once at the State Fair

• Take VA-30 and turn into Gate 2 (turn left if you are coming from I-95)
• Pass through two internal gates (2A and 2B) for which you need credentials
• Drive along a service road call Stage Fair Lane (shown by the red line on the map) and pull into Lot H, which is behind Arts & Crafts Hall
• For deliveries, pull directly behind Commonwealth Hall (which is where the Artisans will be)
