The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during
the month of November, is exhibiting in the Cabell/Arehart Gallery a special exhibit of ceramic pottery by
staff, students, and studio artists of the Make
Waynesboro Clay Studio. Jake Johnson,
an accomplished ceramic artist, opened the studio in 2017. Johnson works on site and out of a home
studio, selling his work through art fairs, galleries, and an online site.
Working in ceramics since, 2002, he earned an MFA in ceramics from Penn State
University, one of the top ten nationally recognized programs. Besides teaching university classes and
workshops, his work is exhibited in galleries, included in collections, and has
been shown in more than fifty juried and invitational exhibitions across the
nation. His work has been featured in Clay Times, the Lark Books 500 series,
and Virginia Living. Johnson and his wife, Katie, have lived in Waynesboro
since 2014 and are both originally from Peoria, Illinois. The exhibit is

An opening will be held Saturday, November 2, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and the public
is encouraged to come, meet, and talk to the artists.
