Artisans Center of Virginia

Historic Onancock School, A Community and Cultural Center

Artists Studios and Museum in Historic Onanocck School

Historic Onancock School Community & Cultural Center is a 13 acre oasis in the heart of Onancock VA.

The Onancock School property has been educating children on the Eastern Shore for over 150 years. The present building, now 96 years old, is in the midst of transforming the facility into an environmentally conscious community & cultural center to benefit all residents and visitors to the Eastern Shore.
The historic school building is home to artisans and craftspeople, many working studios are open on weekends. The Waterman’s Heritage Museum of the Eastern Shore is also a must-see for a fun informational and educational walk through our rich maritime history.

Outdoors, open spaces and ball fields are available for walking, frisbee, people & pet exercise and picnics. Our playground area is equipped with a handicap swing and soft rubber mulch. Ride a bike or walk the handicap-accessible path along the native plant nature trail created by the Eastern Shore Master Naturalists, ending up on the observation deck along the Onancock Creek where wildlife is abundant. The website and facebook page list monthly events and happenings.
