Over the years I have worked in a variety of media including painting, pastels, colored pencils, papermaking and printmaking. In 1998, I discovered the field of surface design. Now I incoporate the various media that I have used to create a single body of work. I hand color all of my fabrics using paint, pastels and colored pencils. I design and carve printing plates that I use to add images to my textiles. The final component is hand or machine stitching which adds color and texture.
Color is the common thread that runs through my work. Sometimes it is vibrant and full of contrast, other times it is more subtle to convey a softer or more contemplative mood. The subject matter I am drawn to is frequently nature based. The imagery varies from broad landscapes to close-up views of insects and trees.
