We invite you to visit our country inn nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains at the top of the Shenandoah Valley near Winchester, VA. Our family has received guests in the Manor House for 8 generations, reconnecting friends and family with farmland.
Our lodging accommodations are located just over an hour away from Washington DC with many charming towns you can visit on the way. You can plan an outing to a local winery, an historic site, a seasonal festival, or just a simple hike along the Blue Ridge on the Appalachian Trail. You could also spend the afternoon on our farm walking along our nature trail, reading a book in the hammock by the water garden, or having a picnic along the banks of our spring fed stream. The change of scenery and shift to a calm pace are sure to revive your spirit. Breakfast at the farm is a special event each morning. In addition to our classic signature menus of products from the farm, we are constantly adding new and distinctive recipes that our family has enjoyed in our travels. We look forward to sharing them with you, our special guests. We have a video introduction and brief tour of our B&B online
Smithfield Farm is also the home to Smith Meadows Meats.
At Smith Meadows, we take great pride in our mission to create a healthy farm environment, thereby producing healthy and contented animals.
Our cattle, pigs, sheep and chickens are regularly rotated to a fresh paddock of grass. All of our animals are handled humanely from the day they are born. They are never fed animal by-products, given growth hormones or antibiotics. In addition, the pastures have not been chemically fertilized or treated with pesticides and herbicides. Additionally we have fresh eggs and homemade pasta and all of our products are available in our farm store. La Capretta Studio features works of the resident artist Nancy Polo.
