24th Annual Artisans Studio Tour, November 10 & 11, 2018

Artisans Studio Tour is seeking new guest artisans especially in glass, basketry, fiber and metal to display their work in the open studios in Charlottesville and surrounding counties on Nov 10 & 11, 2018 for the 24th Annual Artisans Studio Tour.

All Virginia artisans are eligible and must be juried either by ACV or by the Tour jury held in April. All ACV Juried Artisans may participate by simply filling out the participation form found at our web site.

Gloucester Arts Festival Juried Show, June 1–30th, 2018

Deadline: Friday, April 6th, 2018 11:59 pm

The Gloucester Arts Festival committee is pleased to announce an open call for an exhibition, juried and judged by Jeff Harrison. Mr. Harrison is the Chief curator emeritus for Chrysler Museum, Norfolk VA. Artists will be juried into the show with digital images of 2D work completed in the last two years. Our unique format will give the accepted artists the opportunity to curate their own eight by eight foot exhibit for judging and sale.

Open to artists 18 years of age and older, living within the mid-Atlantic region of VA, NC, WV, PA, MD, NJ, DE and Washington DC.

Acceptable two-dimensional media include acrylics, oils, pastels, tempera, watercolors, graphite, charcoal, original print or pen and ink drawings.

Exhibition: June 1 – 30th, 2018 at Gloucester Arts on Main, Gloucester VA

Opening Reception: Friday, June 1st, 6 to 8 pm

Deadline: Friday, April 6th, 11:59 pm

Entry Fee: $40 for 8 x 8 foot display space

Awards: Over $5,000 total prizes given

$2,000 and solo show at Gloucester Arts on Main for Best Body of Work

Artwork will be displayed at Arts on Main and featured on the Gloucester Arts Festival website. Artists will be notified by Friday, April 24th of their acceptance status. VMRC Juried Art Exhibit

The purpose of the national, multimedia VMRC Juried Art Exhibition is to showcase working artists in a superior exhibition that enriches the lives of residents, staff and visitors. This exhibition will have three Divisions:

  1. Drawing/Painting/Printmaking
  2. Photography/Digital Art
  3. 3-D/Multimedia/Other Media

Juror selections will be based on mastery of design, technique, conceptual quality, and creativity. Number of works in each Division is not predetermined but will be decided by the jurors.

Green Market at Stonefield

The Shops at Stonefield in Charlottesville is planning a twice weekly market. The market will be held on the lawn, under a large tent on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. We are committed to establishing a vibrant, community market that allows local producers the opportunity to provide goods directly to consumers.

In addition to local growers and food producers, the market is seeking local artisans.
The market fee is $25/market. Thursday’s market will feature musical entertainment and Saturday’s will have a calendar of events including entertainment, community outreach and other activities.

ACV Affiliate and Northern Neck Artisan Trail member Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville, sells locally-crafted artisan wares in their “Heritage Arts Center” Gift shop. Over 75 local artists and craftspeople are currently consigned and they are looking for more. The Tavern Restaurant is onsite, keeping the same hours as the Gift Shop, attracting visitors for their breakfast, lunch and pub favorites, so patrons can eat a tasty meal and then shop. The hours are Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and ntil 9 p.m. on Fridays (Pub Night), giving products exposure to shoppers five days a week. ACV Affiliate member Colonial Folk Art Studio & Gallery is looking for artists to participate in Art in the ‘Burg. Art in the ‘Burg is a new series of art fairs sponsored by the Williamsburg Arts District Association (WADA) and coordinated by Colonial Folk Art held in the heart of the newly formed Williamsburg Arts District. The first Art in the ‘Burg will be May 23 at 110 Bacon Ave., Williamsburg, Va. Subsequent fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every other Saturday (bi-weekly) until Nov. 14. WADA is currently seeking Virginia artists and craftsmen, especially those from the Williamsburg region, to show and sell. Many forms of art welcomed including primitive, painting, sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, etc. $25 fee for single artists with partial reimburesement upon completion of show.

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA, is accepting new artisans for their gift shop. The shop at SVAC has been growing ever since we started it in 2010 and as an artisan you will get a chance to showcase and sell your work with a minimum time and financial commitment (20-40% commission and 3 hour volunteer shift) each month. SVAC takes care of all the sales and commissions. Your responsibilities are to, track your inventory, volunteer for SVAC, file and track your own sales tax. They are looking for all kinds of 3D works and individually wrapped prints and cards. Please submit up to three photos of each type of item that you make. For example, if you are a jeweler you would need to submit three photos of necklaces that show your style. They do not need an image of every single item you intend to exhibit. They are looking at examples of your craftsmanship and creativity. If you need to show scale, please use a quarter or dollar bill in the photo next to your work. After acceptance, SVAC will schedule an appointment for you to bring your work to SVAC and fill out inventory sheets, price your items, and schedule your volunteer time.
