The Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) is seeking a full-time Executive Director.

Mission: The Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) fosters artisan-focused economic growth, develops vibrant communities, and facilitates connective visitor experiences.
As an entrepreneur development organization, ACV provides services, resources and networking opportunities to growing small businesses. ACV’s specialty is in developing innovative artisan-based (creative and agricultural) programs that network community members and entrepreneurs while facilitating resources they need to thrive.

ACV is looking for a highly organized person with attention to detail who is also flexible and fun. Integrity, reliability, leadership skills and the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration are also essential for this role. The position is full-time and will under direction of the Board of Directors work closely and collaborative with staff and community program teams to ensure the most effective implementation of programs and services.

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the chief executive officer and principal spokesperson for the organization and works with the Board of Directors to give direction and leadership to the achievement of the Artisans Center of Virginia’s mission, goals and objectives, and develops long-range strategic plans to respond to the challenges of Virginia’s artisans and their communities. The Executive Director reports to and holds office at the pleasure of the Board of Directors.

Key responsibilities include working with the Board and staff to develop and implement all policies, procedures, and long-range strategic plans and supervision of such areas as personnel matters, outreach, training, production, programming, promotion, grant writing, marketing and fundraising. The Executive Director must be cognizant of both new and social media, website development, and database management for the purpose of managing staff, teams and systems of the organization, encourages the growth of diverse and quality programming while increasing the organization’s membership and ensuring that members are provided services on a timely and consistent basis.

Acting as a liaison between potential/existing members and the organization, the Executive Director must be a highly organized individual with excellent communications and collaborative skills. They should possess the creativity and analytical talent to effectively coordinate membership meetings and activities and be willing to travel in direct support of membership objectives and meeting facilitation.

* Applicable to Virginia residents located within 30 miles of the Artisans Center of Virginia office at the Frontier Culture Museum in Staunton, VA.

Green Market at Stonefield

The Shops at Stonefield in Charlottesville is planning a twice weekly market. The market will be held on the lawn, under a large tent on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. We are committed to establishing a vibrant, community market that allows local producers the opportunity to provide goods directly to consumers.

In addition to local growers and food producers, the market is seeking local artisans.
The market fee is $25/market. Thursday’s market will feature musical entertainment and Saturday’s will have a calendar of events including entertainment, community outreach and other activities.

ACV Affiliate and Northern Neck Artisan Trail member Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville

ACV Affiliate and Northern Neck Artisan Trail member Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville, sells locally-crafted artisan wares in their “Heritage Arts Center” Gift shop. Over 75 local artists and craftspeople are currently consigned and they are looking for more. The Tavern Restaurant is onsite, keeping the same hours as the Gift Shop, attracting visitors for their breakfast, lunch and pub favorites, so patrons can eat a tasty meal and then shop. The hours are Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and ntil 9 p.m. on Fridays (Pub Night), giving products exposure to shoppers five days a week. ACV Affiliate and Harrisonburg-Rockingham County Artisan Trail member the Hardesty-Higgins House Visitor Center, Rocktown Gift Shoppe, is looking for new products such as scarves, jewelry or other forms of artisan work. $15 maximum wholesale price point accepted. Linesheet/pricelist required. Submit three photos of each type of product best illustrating the creative works. Upon acceptance Rocktown Gift Shoppe will schedule an appointment to review your work and confirm details of a wholesale purchase.

ACV Affiliate member Colonial Folk Art Studio & Gallery

ACV Affiliate member Colonial Folk Art Studio & Gallery is looking for artists to participate in Art in the ‘Burg. Art in the ‘Burg is a new series of art fairs sponsored by the Williamsburg Arts District Association (WADA) and coordinated by Colonial Folk Art held in the heart of the newly formed Williamsburg Arts District. The first Art in the ‘Burg will be May 23 at 110 Bacon Ave., Williamsburg, Va. Subsequent fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every other Saturday (bi-weekly) until Nov. 14. WADA is currently seeking Virginia artists and craftsmen, especially those from the Williamsburg region, to show and sell. Many forms of art welcomed including primitive, painting, sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, etc. $25 fee for single artists with partial reimburesement upon completion of show.

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA, is accepting new artisans for their gift shop. The shop at SVAC has been growing ever since we started it in 2010 and as an artisan you will get a chance to showcase and sell your work with a minimum time and financial commitment (20-40% commission and 3 hour volunteer shift) each month. SVAC takes care of all the sales and commissions. Your responsibilities are to, track your inventory, volunteer for SVAC, file and track your own sales tax. They are looking for all kinds of 3D works and individually wrapped prints and cards. Please submit up to three photos of each type of item that you make. For example, if you are a jeweler you would need to submit three photos of necklaces that show your style. They do not need an image of every single item you intend to exhibit. They are looking at examples of your craftsmanship and creativity. If you need to show scale, please use a quarter or dollar bill in the photo next to your work. After acceptance, SVAC will schedule an appointment for you to bring your work to SVAC and fill out inventory sheets, price your items, and schedule your volunteer time.
