8th Annual Bed and Breakfast Open House - Stone Manor B&B, April 30, 2017 1-5 pm

​Stone Manor B & B Inn is one of several inns participating in the 8th annual B&B open house, hosted by the Loudoun County B&B Guild.

The participating B&Bs are partnering with local vendors to showcase the B&B as well as local talent to create a fun and relaxing atmosphere where guests can explore the property.

Stone Manor is seeking craft artisans and artists to participate and sell their wares. There will be chairs and 5 ft round tables available and access to electricity. The event is planned to occur throughout the house as well as in a 40 by 40 event space. Artists selected are encouraged to visit before the event to view the set-up and space options.

Hull Street Library Call for Artists

Deadline: April 20, 2017, at 4 pm

The City of Richmond’s Public Art Commission is seeking qualified artists to create outdoor artwork for the Hull Street Library. The site is in the front of the library within the brick circle. Existing plantings and signage will be relocated prior to artist installation. The art should strengthen the identity of the library as a community asset and also help to create a sense of place. Themes should be a complement to the building’s purpose, but do not need to be limited to library subject matter. A broad range of artistic styles and materials will be considered.

Winchester Art Mural Project

WAM! Winchester Art Market, ACV affiliate member, is seeking artists and emerging muralists for the Winchester Art Mural Project. Murals to begin this late Spring of 2017 on Indian Alley in Old Town Winchester. Artists do not have to be from our region.

Artistry and design is best left to the creative, but for the first building, we are looking for something bold, colorful and expressive in imagery or abstract design. Hints at the rich history of Winchester or the Shenandoah Valley will be considered as long as celebrities or political views are not used.

5th Bower Center Annual National Juried Exhibition, July 25–August 26, 2017

Deadline: June 1, 2017

The Bower Center for the Arts in historic Bedford announces their 5th Annual National Juried Exhibition. This year’s judge/juror is Halide Salam. Works will be accepted in numerous media including, but not limited to: painting, drawing, print-making, collage, mixed media, photography, mosaics, sculpture, fabric, and glass (stained and fused).

Entry deadline is June 1, 2017.

This exhibition is open to all artists over the age of 18. All entries must be original works (no reproductions) and created by the artists within the past three years and not been in a previous juried exhibit at Bower Center.

23rd Annual Artisans Studio Tour, November 11 & 12, 2017

The 23rd Annual Artisans Studio Tour is November 11 & 12, 2017, 10 - 5 PM. There will 40+ artisans in 20+ working studios in Charlottesville and surrounding counties. Artisans in glass, metal, fiber, basketry, iron are encouraged to join the Tour as guest artisans in current studios. Deadline for Jury application is April 1, 2017. ACV juried artisans may join the Artisans Studio Tour without additional jurying. Due date: June 5, 2017. You may apply by filling out the Participation form.

Visiting the studios offers a unique opportunity to understand the working process of each artist. The Artisans Studio Tour was founded in 1994 by a group of Charlottesville area artisans to enhance the community’s awareness of professional artisans living and working in the region.

This year marks the 23nd year that artists will open their studios and collaborate to make a public showing of their work. All Tour artisans have gone through a rigorous approval process that ensures that the crafts are of the highest quality. The Tour initiated an emerging artisan program in 2016 to encourage younger artisans who are seeking
professional careers in their fields.

ACV Affiliate and Northern Neck Artisan Trail member Historic Rice’s Hotel/Hughlett’s Tavern in Heathsville, sells locally-crafted artisan wares in their “Heritage Arts Center” Gift shop. Over 75 local artists and craftspeople are currently consigned and they are looking for more. The Tavern Restaurant is onsite, keeping the same hours as the Gift Shop, attracting visitors for their breakfast, lunch and pub favorites, so patrons can eat a tasty meal and then shop. The hours are Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and ntil 9 p.m. on Fridays (Pub Night), giving products exposure to shoppers five days a week. ACV Affiliate member Colonial Folk Art Studio & Gallery is looking for artists to participate in Art in the ‘Burg. Art in the ‘Burg is a new series of art fairs sponsored by the Williamsburg Arts District Association (WADA) and coordinated by Colonial Folk Art held in the heart of the newly formed Williamsburg Arts District. The first Art in the ‘Burg will be May 23 at 110 Bacon Ave., Williamsburg, Va. Subsequent fairs will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every other Saturday (bi-weekly) until Nov. 14. WADA is currently seeking Virginia artists and craftsmen, especially those from the Williamsburg region, to show and sell. Many forms of art welcomed including primitive, painting, sculpture, woodworking, ceramics, etc. $25 fee for single artists with partial reimburesement upon completion of show.

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA

ACV Affiliate and HeART and Soil of the Shenandoah Valley Artisan Trail Site, the Shenandoah Valley Art Center in Waynesboro VA, is accepting new artisans for their gift shop. The shop at SVAC has been growing ever since we started it in 2010 and as an artisan you will get a chance to showcase and sell your work with a minimum time and financial commitment (20-40% commission and 3 hour volunteer shift) each month. SVAC takes care of all the sales and commissions. Your responsibilities are to, track your inventory, volunteer for SVAC, file and track your own sales tax. They are looking for all kinds of 3D works and individually wrapped prints and cards. Please submit up to three photos of each type of item that you make. For example, if you are a jeweler you would need to submit three photos of necklaces that show your style. They do not need an image of every single item you intend to exhibit. They are looking at examples of your craftsmanship and creativity. If you need to show scale, please use a quarter or dollar bill in the photo next to your work. After acceptance, SVAC will schedule an appointment for you to bring your work to SVAC and fill out inventory sheets, price your items, and schedule your volunteer time.
