About Ten Good Sheep, Karyn Belknap:

Love for my friends of the four-legged wooly variety ~ everything starts there for me.

A fascination with natural fibers and immersion in their creative palette are the natural results.

Beginning with the acquisition of my first (but not my last) spinning wheel in 1993, my adventure and love affair with natural fiber has led me down paths I never could have imagined. The newfound ability to spin back then dictated that sheep would be in my future. And so, the ten most wonderful sheep in the world entered my life and changed it for the better. Years of learning about being a shepherdess, shearing, fiber preparation, and pondering what to do with all of that wool has brought me to today.

Our local & one of a kind work ranges from hand dyed yarns and spinning/felting fibers and art batts to unique wearables, gifts and homegoods.

Our current wholesale line includes the finest quality and best made felted soaps available on the market. We partner with independent retailers, museum shops and galleries across the country and in Canada to provide them with a variety of quality, small batch produced offerings for their customers. The Ten Good Sheep studio employs a local studio assistant who is being apprenticed in fiber arts as she works side by side with me every day. I love how my fiber journey has introduced me to new fiber enthusiasts around the world as well as in my own back yard. Being a quality focused fiber artisan has made for an excitement for every work day and a contentment in the seasons of life.

Private and intimately sized group workshops are periodically available in sheep shearing and hoof care & our specially developed wool/fleece washing methods.

We also instruct in the dye studio for fibers, yarns and wearables.

Local demonstrations and eductional outreach for events on either traditional or modern spinning wheels with general sheep husbandry and fiber use talks.

Artisan entrepreneural coaching and mentoring available.

At our studio you can create your own custom blended art batt and learn about spinning, weaving and felting.

Visitors are encouraged to indulge in a little quiet sheep therapy. We have registered heritage Olde English Southdown Babydoll lambs as well as ducks and chickens who love to say hi at the studio.
