Background
Incorporated in 1997, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV)
was established to create and maintain a statewide center dedicated to the work
of Virginia Artisans. Our mission is to raise awareness of craft and its contribution
to the culture of Virginia through exhibitions, education, and retail opportunities.
The Artisans Center of Virginia is pleased to announce that it
has received a grant from the Virginia Department of Housing and Community
Development (DHCD). The purpose of the project
is to establish a craft network in the rural areas of the following counties:
Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Craig, Highland, Roanoke, Rockbridge and
Rockingham. An exhibition and marketing conference are
being developed as part of this two year project which began in September 2006.
The conference
will be open to anyone interested. The special exhibition will include selected
work from the ACN participants. Listings with images will be published at this web site based on the details for submissions concerning the project area.
Counties Include: Alleghany, Augusta, Bath, Botetourt, Craig,
Highland, Roanoke, Rockbridge and
Rockingham
